These are just a few of the many miniature jugs and pitchers
made by the potter Davis Salks. The teaspoon in each picture can give you an
idea of their relative size. Every aspect of these pieces is handmade.
They are hand thrown on the potters wheel, and the glazes are Salks' own
formulations. These were
developed over a period of several years, and are mixed by hand from raw
compounds.
The form and style of these objects is derived from Early American
pottery and Pennsylvania German folk Art that is indigenous to Salks' native region of
Berks County.
